Core job description
To visit customers, manage their expectations, accurately identify insurance related damage and manage the customer.
Accurately identify scope and cost insurance related damage.
Manage complaints.
Field based position.
The aims of this position are to:
Accurately determine insurers liability and extent of repairs to damaged buildings.
To identify insurance related damage and accurately scope the repairs.
Produce a clear and accurate report (with photographs) confirming the above.
Provide the best service to the insurer and their customers, resulting in high levels of customer satisfaction and low levels of customer complaints
Specific responsibilities include:
Determining Insurers liability investigation of cause and relating it to policy documents and insurer protocols.
Determining the scope of the claim identifying insurance related repairs only.
Scheduling and pricing building repairs in accordance with specific pricing model.
Agreeing repair costs with contractors and direct labour management colleagues.
Setting, managing and exceeding customer expectations and providing exceptional customer service.
Liaising with Surveyor Technical Team in contentious liability issues, potential fraud, CDM, complaints, and other specialist areas.
Range of responsibilities:
Receive extensive initial and ongoing insurance specific training;
Receive instructions remotely via mobile IT and manage diary;
Visit customers within specific geographical area;
Validate building insurance claims (decide insurers liability) and manage customers expectations;
Validate the extent of damage for domestic building insurance claims and manage customers expectations;
Scope repairs and manage the building contractors expectations;
Resolve customer queries and complaints;
Liaise with Surveyor Technical Team as required;
Qualifications & experience:
Either:
Extensively experienced and qualified trades based,
Construction related degree holder and/or
Qualified/part qualified ARICS/MCIOB surveyor
Experience in Housing repair/maintenance sector is essential;
Experience in scheduling and costing/pricing housing maintenance or repairs;
Some experience in insurance repairs an advantage but detailed training is provided;
Sound ability to diagnose cause of failure and distinguish between damage and gradual failure;
A good understanding of and ability to use tablet IT and claim management software is essential;
Driving license essential.
Skills & abilities:
Produce clear and accurate building repair schedules;
Accurately costs repair schedules using computerised pricing models;
Practical understanding of domestic housing construction and trade skills;
Organised, self-motivated and able to adapt to different circumstances;
Good IT, numeracy and literacy skills;
Effective face to face communicator on a range of levels;
Ability to negotiate and deal with conflict.
