Systems Engineer / Domain Specialist
Systems Engineer / Domain Specialist – Radio Communications for the Aerospace sector.
Company provides complete system solutions for all types of fixed and rotary wing aircraft in both the civil and military sectors
Key Tasks – The Systems Engineer / Domain Specialist with be responsible for
Supporting the Avionics Product Group Manager in the Coordination of Technical aspects of Bid Management. Obtaining and reviewing Technical metrics. Providing technical Customer interfaces and support to Business Units at the pre-bid stage. Leading and coordinating the Technical Business Unit, technical and estimating contribution to Bid activity. Technical Management of elements of Company funded development. Bid and Project Management experience will be required.
Primary Purpose of the Role – The Systems Engineer / Domain Specialist will be responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of Product List and integration and harmonisation. Support BL-led Product Management Committees. Coordination of dedicated Standardisation Managers in the TBU to support Product Policy. Development and maintenance of Standardised Basic Element and Building Block List and integration and harmonisation. Contributing early draft of Product Policy Process material into a workable, practical form. Integration of MCS (Military Customer Services) Products into Product Policy scope and development of evolution roadmaps for older products.
Technical & Professional skills required -
An experienced Systems Engineer with a broad-based Radio communications background gained from working in industry.
Essential Skills: -Knowledge and experience of Analogue and Digital Radio Communications systems, preferably in an aerospace environment.
Desirable Skills: -A good selection of the skills listed below will be required. Awareness of:
• Satellite Communication Systems (at L and Ku band)
• RF Power Amplifier techniques
• HF and VHF Radio Systems
• Awareness of Antenna technologies
• Modem and Physical layer experience
• Audio intercom systems
• Control and Display systems
Knowledge of:
• Inmarsat Satellite System & Service
• GSM and 3G mobile communications concepts
• WiFi and WIMAX technologies Ability to develop concept system and product architectures
• Experience of interfacing with third party organisations
• Understanding of qualification requirements (EMC and Environmental)
PC Literate:
• Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access & Visio or similar Office Automation products Useful Additional Skills – but not essential
Knowledge of:
• The integration and certification of systems on civil airliners (AIRBUS/BOEING)
• Airborne SATCOM standards such as ARINC 741, 761 & 781 * ACARS, ATN, and FANS
• Aircraft environmental requirements
• Operator aspects of avionic systems Experience of working with, and managing, third parties and integrating third party solutions into larger overall systems.
Previous experience of working with airworthiness organisations (e.g. EASA/CAA/FAA).
Familiarity with Defence Standard, MIL-STDs and civil standards.
Education & Qualifications
Degree Qualified in Systems or Electrical / Electronic, Communications, or Systems Engineering (or similar)Systems Engineering background preferred.
Additional Information
French speaking an advantage but not essential International travel will be required.
Salary £35K-£55K – Location – Middlesex, South West London, Surrey/Middlesex border.
